be careful of the shards

Did you hear that? That sound? That shattering? Like glass dropped on ceramic tile...That was my heart breaking...
Halifax lost its bid over Moncton to host The Eagles. As in the 'THE EAGLES" Don Henley et al. (Not to be confused with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, hey I'm just sayin')

Mayor Peter Kelly said the The Eagles were only one of the bands that the promoters were vying to get here. Kelly says that he didn't want to jinx the outcome by revealing the names of the other bands. Come on PK. Don't tease us! Would you ever consider bringing Metallica, AC/DC or Bon Jovi here? We've had Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Motley Crue, the Stones. What gives? I am sure that Keith Urban will bring heaps of people. But in my humble opinion, a little metal goes a long way. I see Halifax more of a rock city than a country city. Call me crazy (I assure you that I have been called worse)
So we didn't get Celine Dion..meh.. It's not that I can't picture Celine Dion in Halifax, it's just that I can't picture her (and her audience) on the Halifax Common. Her demographic is not that of
a rock band, let's face it. I doubt that her fans are as hard core as we rock fans. To be willing to stand for umpteen hours (or sit on the ground) sometimes in extreme heat. The allowance is usually a bottle of water (a litre if you're lucky) The lines to the loos (and the loos themselves)can be quite atrocious. Don't get me wrong I thing it would be fantastic if Celine Dion came! I am not a fan, I probably wouldn't go to her concert, It would be great for tourism. Put her in the Metro Centre. There are seats....and drink all the water you want!! More of a controlled environment, don't you think?

So all in all, what I am trying to say is, if you need me I'll be in my apartment moping, and listening to "The Sad Cafe" on repeat.
